Because of the large amount of writing I have been doing for other sites and publications, my own personal blog has been pretty much ignored for several months. Sometime after July 15, the site crashed and I didn’t even realize it until I returned from an extended holiday abroad in Canada. And to top it off, I never did make a decent back-up. Note to self…back up everything from now on!
I guess this is the month of hackers or something. A site I have been working on for somebody else recently had 18,000 files dumped into it by a Russian hacker. Apparently this is a weekly occurrence according to the folks at my hosting site. Random attacks on random sites for no apparent reason. Fortunately, I had a recent back-up of this one and a quick click of the mouse put it back into action in a couple of minutes.
Anyway, this site is almost back to normal. At least I managed to get all the previous pics and postings back up again. Now I just need to work on the sidebars and other stuff.
And a little addendum for the beginning of October…
In the last month, I have also had my laptop stolen and my Visa card compromised. Please tell me that is the end of my tech issues for this year! Of course, the big mistake is that we just started watching CSI Cyber. Now I can see all the stuff that could happen to me with my digital presence!
